One Reason Not To Trust Your Aging Parent's Doctor
Most US doctors who treat our aging parents are not trained in geriatrics. This creates potentially serious problems for aging loved ones who must go to the hospital. Psychologist Ken Dychwald of Age Wave warns that the surge of aging people in our healthcare system is putting pressure on physicians and nurses exactly where specialized knowledge is lacking.
If kids need a pediatrician, doesn't it make sense that old folks need a geriatrician? And yet my Parents primary care doctor didn't even suggest it. I nodded my head "yes" through this entire article. Like a lot of things lately I learned this the hard way. I'm not suggesting Logan's Run but what's the point of longer life spans without the corresponding social, financial, and medical infrastructure to handle it?

Today is my Birthday. (Notice the capital 'b'.) So I figured the post would be on point!
